MISSION STATEMENT

For decades, the Canyon Camp Staff have upheld a mission statement that is critical to fueling the 'Spirit of Canyon Camp' each summer. We have always prided ourselves as a camp staff that "goes above and beyond" for each Scout that walks through our front gate, and that is manifested by the following poem, known as "The Little Scout Who Follows Me". You can find this poem and its verses inscribed around the inside of the Spirit Pavilion at Canyon Camp.

The Little Scout That Follows Me

A careful Scouter I ought to be

A little Scout follows me

I do not dare to go astray

For fear they’ll go that selfsame way.

Not once can I escape their eyes

What’er they see me do they try

Like me, they say their going to be

That little Scout who follows me.

They think that I am good and fine

Believe in every work of mine

The base in me they must not see

That little Scout who follows me.

I must remember as I go

Through summer sun and winter snow

I’m building for the years to be

That little Scout who follows me.
