The inaugural Leadership Council for the Stewards of Canyon Camp initiative met on March 1st. This group of supporters, along with key volunteers and BSA Professionals, met to discuss how the 2020-21 funds will be allocated. The total number of Stewards and funds raised were shared with this group as well. The initial goal of the Stewards initiative was 20 gifts raising $5,000-$10,000. We are extremely excited to share 58 gifts were given raising just over $24,000 in addition to a pledge of $12,000 for a high need project at camp. When this project was proposed in the fall of 2019, we did not expect to raise nearly $40,000 in the inaugural year! Additional information will be sent in the coming weeks and months regarding project updates and donor recognition. Please save the date for the Alumni and Friend Reunion on July 24. All Stewards will be recognized at this event.
The projects selected for this year include:
Office/Trading Post Repairs for facia and gutters
New PFDs for the Lakefront Area
Brand new Staff Cabin project for female staff members
Misc. Roofing Equipment to allow for new steel roofs on buildings at camp
Indian Point Trail Renovation Supplies
Weather Resistant Storage for the Climbing/COPE area
